The 6th Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) is hosted by China Media Group and the People's Government of Hainan. This festival is committed to strengthening international film cultural exchanges and cooperation, fostering the development of the film industry, promoting the prosperity of film creation, and supporting the growth of young filmmakers.
The "HIIFF Talents" Venture Capital Training Camp was organized for the first time in this year as a new main activity to support young directors in making short films, providing young creators with the opportunity to start filming in real time, helping young filmmakers' dreams of short films to be realized, and accumulating new energy for Chinese-spoken films and even world films.
The "HIIFF Talents" Venture Capital Training Camp recruited young filmmakers and their short film projects from a wide range of creators, with Hainan as filming location, encouraging creators to develop short films without any constraints.
The overall activities of the training camp include evaluation and selection, road-shows, filming and production of selected projects, and exhibition activities during the festival. On the basis of being shortlisted for the short-film project evaluation, the festival will invite senior film creators to serve as creative mentors, hold mentor workshops, educational excursions in Hainan, and other activities. Through the final review, eight short film projects will be selected, each provided with 120,000 RMB in funding and industry resource support, ultimately achieving the successful implementation of these eight short films. The creative achievements of the venture capital training camp will continue to be showcased and exchanged. Creators selected for the training camp will receive honors from the festival and priority to participate in subsequent activities of the film festival.
